ALTX Africa Group Ltd (ALTX) is an investment holding company incorporated in Mauritius. Currently it operates securities and derivatives market in Uganda and East African region.

On March 25 2014, ALTX incorporated its first exchange, ALT Xchange Ltd in Uganda. The exchange would service the East African region. The new exchange is expected to go live in quarter 4 of 2014. It would initially focus on trading of cash equities and bonds, and to introduce other asset classes including financial derivatives and commodities. [1]

ALTX signed a partnership agreement with GMEX Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of GMEX Group. Under the agreement, ALTX would use technology from GMEX’s trading platform, ForumMatch, market surveillance system, ForumDetect, and workstation, Forum Trader. As part of the agreement, GMEX would set up a London based routing hub to interconnect with ALTX and help facilitate trading liquidity into Africa. GMEX would also operate ALTX representative office in London to aid business development.[2]
